The young forward raised in Sweden to English parents.

The key info
Jack Cooper-Love
Birthplace: Aneby, Sweden
Age: 19
Position: Forward
Height: 1.83m
Club: Örgryte (on loan from Elfsborg)

Cooper-Love was relatively late to the professional football academy scene but his talent was obvious from a young age. Having grown up playing for his local side Aneby SK, he was playing for the club’s first team by the age of 15 in the sixth-tier of Swedish football.

After he fired 9 goals in 12 games in 2017 in the lower divisions, he was snapped up by the academy of top-flight side Elfsborg.

Fast forward four years and he has made eight appearances this year in his debut campaign in the club’s first team.

Coming into 2021 off the back of 11 goals in nine games for Elfsborg’s under-19s, it looked like this year would be that breakthrough campaign for Cooper-Love. It has turned out that way and his impact off the bench in matches has seen him rewarded with a new two-year contract.

The 19-year-old will now continue his development this season out on loan at second-tier side Örgryte.

The forward was born and raised in Sweden so where is his connection to English Players Abroad?

Speaking exclusively to EPA, he told us:

“My parents are both from Bury and lived there until they moved to Sweden. We’ve still got a house there and that’s where I go when I’m in the UK.”

Despite his Greater Manchester origins, he has followed in his dad’s footsteps in being a Liverpool fan.

A hot prospect on the Swedish football scene, he has been on the radar of the Swedish FA for some time now.

“I’ve been to five out of six international camps but I’ve not made any appearances yet.

“I wasn’t a Swedish citizen at the start so couldn’t represent them but I now have my citizenship so if the chance comes, I can now finally play for them!”

We will be following Jack’s progress at Örgryte with keen interest and seeing as he is yet to be cap tied to Sweden, the English FA better also keep an eye out.
