Liverpool-born ‘keeper Andrew Mills has been playing in Sweden for six years and has been at Östersunds for three of those. After several appearances in the Swedish Cup and several more times featuring on the bench, the 26-year-old finally got his Allsvenskan debut yesterday.

It turned out to be an impressive one with Mills making several important saves to ensure his side won 3-2 away to Sirius. Whilst he made important stops at the back, his compatriot Blair Turgott bagged a brace.

In contrast to Mills, Veron Parkes only made the move abroad this summer. He grew up playing for Crystal Palace, joining them in 2009 before moving across London to join West Ham in 2018. He turned down the offer of a contract with the Irons to join Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard on a three-year deal.

Earlier this month, he joined second-tier side FC Dordrecht on a season-long loan deal and that is where his debut in senior came yesterday. He came on for the final few minutes of a 2-2 draw with Almere City, who have Shayon Harrison in their side.
