Keanan Bennetts joins Gladbach’s English Contingent

Keanan Bennetts is the latest Englishman to join Borussia Mönchengladbach after a deal was agreed with Tottenham Hotspur today.

Bennetts, a 19-year-old winger, will link up with Mandela Egbo at Gladbach and possibly Reece Oxford who was on loan with German side this season.

A reported fee of around £2 million was enough for the 19-year-old to join several other Englishmen who have lit up the Bundesliga.

Bennetts was a regular for Spurs’ youth teams this season, having played 22 matches in Premier League 2 this season, scoring seven goals. He also played three matches in the Checkatrade Trophy for the U21s, and seven games in the UEFA Youth League for the U19s, scoring two goals.

Born in Edgware, London to a German father and a Nigerian mother, Bennetts played for Germany U15s become deciding to represent England instead. He has since played for England at U16, U17 and U19 level with his last international outing coming in September last year against Poland U19s.

Good luck to Keanan and I hope this is the start of a big summer or transfers abroad!

  1. Do you think there’s a high chance of him switching allegiance to Germany? I’ve seen a lot of him and I’m very impressed, would be a shame to lose him. Love this site too mate!

    1. I’m hoping that as he switched to England at a younger age, he’ll stick with us now. Hopefully playing alongside other English guys at Gladbach will convince him to keep playing for England but no doubt the German FA will be keeping a close eye on him! And thank you!
